Hi. I'm Carly. Maybe you already know that. But if not, thank you for stopping by!
I'm in the process of buying a house in Beverly. This is a huge venture for me, who decided at the age of 40 that maybe she wanted to own a home.
That's mostly because of my kid, who turns five in December.
I've been at the same nonprofit since 2016. Our company helps people in the community file their taxes and receive financial coaching and student financial aid assistance for free. I'm proud of what we do. I'm also halfway through graduate school, working towards my Master of Science in Higher Education Student Affairs. Yay student loans!
I have qualified for down payment and closing cost assistance, in addition to a home buying program, all of which is making this possible.
It's weird to ask for money. But what I'm hoping is that the option to ignore this and call me tacky and roll your eyes when I'm not around will keep me in your good graces.
What is this money for? Appliances that don't come with the house. Minor fixes, moving costs, window treatment. A safety net for things I know I'm overlooking. Basically things above and beyond what I've been so fortunate to cobble together to make this happen.
Crowdfunding is uncomfortable to say the least. I guess I figure the worst thing that could happen is nothing at all.
And I would still be more than OK.
If you decide to leave your name, I hope that I'll be able to repay you in some way. A night of babysitting or petsitting or housesitting. Another set of eyes to read and edit your work. A ride or the use of my car. An extra pair of arms to lift something heavy. A financial coaching session. Let me know how I can make this a two-way transaction.
