A nest is a fundraising campaign page on Feather The Nest to raise money for a real estate dream like a down payment, home improvement or furniture for your home.
You can set your fundraising goal in any amount you want. We recommend that you be realistic about your goal because we have seen a higher likelihood that people will gift if your goal is something attainable, so probably don’t ask for a million dollars.
Feather The Nest provides you a platform (your nest) to direct friends and family to so they can gift. Anyone can gift to your nest although, your friends and family are the most likely to give you gifts.
Your nest has a unique web address that you can send out to your friends and family by email, add it to your wedding website as a registry, share it on your social networks etc.
We do not charge a fee to create a nest. We do however charge a small 5% transaction fee on every gift and the credit card processing company (Stripe) charges a fee of 2.9% + 30¢. What exactly is Stripe? Learn more here (https://stripe.com/us/terms).
The transaction fee is split between Feather The Nest and the credit card processing company.
Yes. You will receive an email notification every time someone gives you a gift. And when you log into My Nest you can see a log of all the gifts you have received over time.
No. The money you receive is a gift and we transfer it to you within 10 minutes of the time the gift is given.
Feather The Nest has a relationship with Stripe. You will receive an email from Stripe within 2 or 3 business days, from the day you create your nest. To receive your gifts you would need to open an account and provide Stripe with your bank account information, and other personal information. No. We transfer you the money right after someone gives it to you.
We require a social security number because in the event that you receive a single gift over $600 we will need to report that to the IRS as Misc Income. We do not use this information for any other purpose, and we take your privacy and the security of your data very seriously. Read more about our security.
gifts can be given right on your nest page by pushing the Feather This Nest button. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover and only accept US dollars
Not at this time. gifts are only accepted in US dollars and we will transfer money you collect on the site in US dollars only.
Yes. They will receive an email notification with your name and gift amount.
Yes. There is an option when you choose the amount you want to give to give anonymously. If you choose this option the nester will not see your name or email address but will be notified that a gift was given anonymously.
